Iowa National Guard Service Scholarship

Formerly known as NGEAP


 

 
This is a state funded tuition assistance program that can be used in conjunction with the qualified Service Member's federal student aid programs such as the GI Bill, or the Federal Tuition Assistance (a.k.a. FedTA / FTA / Army IgnitED) programs.
 
 
 DEADLINES: You must meet ALL eligibility requirements on the deadline date in order to be approved (see POLICY section below).
 
 ·         July 1st 
  • o    For both fall and spring together
  •  
  • o    For fall only
 
 ·         December 1st  
  •  o    For spring only (if you did not apply for fall)
  •  o    If you checked "Do not plan to enroll" for spring when you applied for fall, and now plan to enroll

HOW TO APPLY:
 
The INGSS applications for the upcoming school year of 2021-2022 are now open (1 Oct 2020)
 
 
 
Step 2: Select the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) button.
 
Step 3: Complete and Submit the 2021-2022 (upcoming school year) FAFSA application.
 
Step 4: Select the IFAA (Iowa Financial Aid Application) button.
 
Step 5: Complete and Submit the 2021-2022 (upcoming school year) IFAA application.
 
 
HINT: Ensure you receive a confirmation email from the Department of Education (FAFSA) and Iowa College Aid (IFAA) that includes a tracking number. SAVE THESE EMAILS.
 
 
The 2021-2022 FAFSA application is open 1 OCT 2020- 1 JUL 2022. (Must submit by the deadlines as annotated above)
The 2021-2022 IFAA application is open 1 OCT 2020- 1 DEC 2021.
 
YOU MUST APPLY FOR FAFSA IN ADDITION TO APPLYING FOR IOWA NATIONAL GUARD SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP, OTHERWISE YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE DENIED. 
 
You do not have to accept any of the assistance offered through the FAFSA process, especially loans which have to be paid back.
 
 
 

YOUR APPLICATION STATUS:

 

Refer to the email account you provided in your application. A system generated notification will be sent to that email address once your application has been processed as Eligible or Ineligible for Iowa National Guard Service Scholarship. If you can't find this email, ask your school. All qualifying schools for Iowa National Guard Service Scholarship have the ability to download a roster of approved students.

 
 
EXCEPTION TO POLICY PROCEDURES - for missed application deadlines or otherwise disapproved applications.

Read the ETP Policy and Procedures Memo, complete the Iowa National Guard Service Scholarship ETP Memorandum Template, and forward it as instructed.

 
 
 
 
 
 
MISSED THE DEADLINE DUE TO BASIC / AIT or DEPLOYMENT?
 
If you were at AIT, IADT, MOB, etcetera, on the date of the application deadline, apply online per the instructions above in the HOW TO APPLY section within 30-days from the last date of training stated on your DD214. After you submit your Iowa National Guard Service Scholarship application and the FAFSA application, notify your full-time unit staff Battalion or MSC Retention NCO.
 
 
If you are currently deployed and submitted a Iowa National Guard Service Scholarship after either of the deadlines. Notify your full-time unit staff Battalion or MSC Retention NCO of your late applications for further processing.
 
 
If you were not on either of these Title 10 federal active duty orders over either the 1 July or 1 December deadlines and did not apply by the deadlines, you will need to notify your full-time unit staff Battalion or MSC Retention NCO to initiate an INGSS late application Exception to Policy (ETP).
 
 
If you were on Title 10 federal active duty orders over either the 1 July or 1 December deadlines and did not apply within 30-days from the last date of these orders, you will need to notify your full-time unit staff Battalion or MSC Retention NCO to initiate an INGSS late application Exception to Policy (ETP).
