CW5 Jeffrey W. Lee served over 35 years in the Iowa National Guard. He enlisted in 1986 as a Flight Operations Specialist (93P) with Det 2, 147th AVN in Boone. He was mobilized in 1990 with 1187th MEDEVAC Co (Air Ambulance) in support of Desert Storm Operations.

He contributed efforts and fought the flood of 1993 at the Des Moines Waterworks.

In 1995, he entered active duty serving as a Flight Operations Sergeant for the Operational Support Airlift Agency. After a reclassification as a 75B Personnel Services SGT, then SGT Lee was assigned to the S1 section and continuing building his experience in the military personnel arena. Based on demonstrated abilities, he was selected and attended Warrant Officer Candidate School and Adjutant General’s Warrant Officer Basic Course in 1999. His first assignment as a warrant officer was supporting 2/34 IBCT as a Military Personnel Technician until August 2000. Mr. Lee then spent several years at National Guard Bureau level serving as the Assistant S1 for the Operational Support Airlift Command and served at the national level as the first national Warrant Officer Strength Manager.

In 2006, CW3 Lee returned to Iowa as the Officer and Warrant Officer Strength Manager for the Recruiting and Retention Battalion. In 2010, he assumed company command of Bravo (Braveheart) Recruit Sustainment Program in Waterloo, Iowa. In November of 2011, CW4 Lee was assigned as the Deputy S1 of 2/34 Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT). CW4 Lee used his foundation as an Adjutant and his diverse expertise of sustainment operations assist in IBCT training events. In November 2016, he was selected as the Senior G1 Warrant Officer, the top Human Resources Technician.

In March 2021, he was installed as the seventh Command Chief Warrant Officer of the Iowa Army National Guard.

CW5 Lee’s civilian education accomplishments includes a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Transportation and Logistics from Iowa State University, awarded in 1992 and a Masters of Arts in Christian Leadership Studies from Liberty University in 2013.

CW5 Lee’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 OLCs, the Army Commendation Medal with 2 OLCs, the Army Achievement Medal with 6 OLC, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with 7 OLCs, the National Defense Service Medal 2nd Award, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/Gold Hourglass, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device, Humanitarian Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, Army Staff Identification Badge, and NCO Professional Development Ribbon 2nd Award. His state awards include the Iowa Meritorious Service Medal, Iowa Commendation Medal, Iowa Humanitarian Service Ribbon, Iowa Leadership Ribbon with Torch, Iowa State Service Ribbon with 5 OLCs and Iowa Outstanding Unit Ribbon. CW5 Lee’s badges include the Aviation Badge and ARNG Recruiting and Retention Badge.

CW5 Lee has been married to his wife Brandie for the last 27 years, they have been blessed with 4 children; Trevn, Alexandria, Abigail and Noah. Both Trevn and Allie have elected to continue the family tradition of service by joining the Army National Guard. Trevn serves full time in the G6 as the State COMSEC manager with an M-Day assignment as the SASMO NCOIC in 248th ASB and Alexandria is an Army Nurse in C/334th BSB. Abigail is enrolled in a Nursing program at the Des Moines Community College and Noah is pursing is bachelor’s degree in History at Iowa State University
