50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION SCHEDULED FOR

IOWA MILITARY ACADEMY/185TH REGIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTE

 

The 185th Regional Training Institute (RTI), formerly known as the Iowa Military Academy, will celebrate its 50th anniversary on July 14, at Camp Dodge, Johnston, Iowa.
 

The celebration will begin with two informational briefings beginning at 9 a.m. and noon in the Enhanced Classroom, Joint Forces Headquarters (formerly known as STARC Armory), Camp Dodge.
 

At 2 p.m., a presentation will be held at the Camp Dodge Recreation Hall, Building 57, which will discuss the history and evolution of the Iowa Military Academy, as well as a multi-media presentation highlighting past classes and organizational leadership. Following the presentation, a new monument will be dedicated. An open house will be held at Building M-2, the RTI Headquarters, beginning at 2 p.m. This open house will culminate with the dedication of a new monument at 2:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided, as well as the opportunity to talk to old friends about the time spent at the Academy and a chance to tour the Hall of Honor.
 

Lastly, an open house will be held at the RTI Headquarters, Building M-2, from 3-4 p.m. Refreshments will be provided, as well as the opportunity to talk to old friends about the time spent at the Academy and a tour of the Hall of Honor.
 

Founded in 1957 at Camp Dodge as the Iowa Military Academy, the 185th RTI has trained and graduated thousands of commissioned officers, warrant officers, and non-commissioned officers in its 50-year history. The Institution has offered a variety of courses throughout the years, including Officer and Warrant Officer Candidate School, Basic and Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Courses, as well as Combat Lifesaver, Total Army Instructor Training, Company Level Pre-Command Courses, and State-level Pre-Mobilization Evaluation.
