WATERLOO READINESS CENTER
REDEDICATION CEREMONY SCHEDULED

A community rededication ceremony and open house commemorating the completion of the renovation and expansion of the Iowa Army National Guard Readiness Center, 3106 Airport Blvd., Waterloo, Iowa has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 16, from 5-7 p.m. Brig. Gen. Mark Zirkelbach, Deputy Adjutant General, Iowa Army National Guard will officiate the ceremony.

The public and media are welcome and encouraged to attend this ceremony and open house.

Originally constructed in 1954, the facility is home to the following units: Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry; Detachment 1, Company B, 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry; and Company D, 334th Brigade Support Battalion.

The $3.3 million renovation and expansion project includes an addition that completely changed the nature of the main entrance, totaling approximately 17,000 square feet and the alteration and renovation of approximately 18,000 square feet of existing space. Additional work included an updated mechanical system, new electric service, high efficiency windows, vinyl, carpet, and ceramic floor tile. The facility was designed by the Des Moines office of FEH Associates, and Prairie Construction was the general contractor.
