Prairie Meadows Race Track and Casino was recognized at a special thank you ceremony on Friday, April 13, at the Iowa Gold Military Museum in Johnston. The Gold Star Military Museum, which is Iowa's premier veterans museum, was awarded a $8,000 Prairie Meadows grant for their new WWI exhibit entitled, "Camp Dodge, Home Away From Home." Shown in the photo (L to R) are Mike Vogt, Des Moines, Curator of the Museum, Pam Nash Assistant Director of Facilities for Prairie Meadows, Mr. Bob Holliday, Des Moines, Museum President, Dave Walker and Ron Pinegar Assistant Director of food & Beverage and Russ Bierl, Ankeny, Museum Director. The World War I exhibit is a permanent display at the museum, which was first started in 1985 to honor all Iowa military veterans. Exhibits at the museum are only made possible through grants and donations. |
The American Legion of Iowa was recognized at a special thank you ceremony on Friday, April 13, at the Iowa Gold Military Museum in Johnston. The Gold Star Military Museum, which is Iowa's premier veterans museum, was awarded a 2007 American Legion Grant fro their new WWI exhibit entitled, "Camp Dodge, Home Away From Home." Shown in the photo are Mr. Bob Holiday, Museum President, Jerry Sebben and Roy Cooley the American Legion and Russ Bierl, Museum Director. The World War I exhibit is a permanent display at the museum, which was first started in 1985 to honor all Iowa veterans. Exhibits at the museum are only made possible through grants and donations. |
