A virtual model of the WWI 13th National Cantonment, Camp Dodge, was developed using historic maps from 1919 with new technology. The maps were scanned into digital format and georeferenced in a Geographic Information System (GIS). After all the map layers were properly located a 3D modeling program called ArcScene was used to build the terrain and display all the layers in three dimensions. Here are some still images from the model.
