Since 1941, the Iowa Air National Guard has been an integral part of our nation’s defense and our state’s emergency response system. Components of our organization include the State Headquarters at Camp Dodge, Johnston, the 132nd Fighter Wing (F-16C Fighting Falcon) at the Des Moines International Airport, the 185th Air Refueling Wing (KC-135E Stratotanker), Colonel Bud Day Field, Sioux City and the 133rd Test Squadron (Operational Test and Development) in Fort Dodge.

Our units are always looking for highly motivated men and women to become members of our team. Positions range from jet mechanic to medical technician, intelligence and operations specialist to electrician. Technical training is provided through the Air Force and may qualify for credits toward an Associate degree. Additionally a military Apprenticeship program is offered so Guard members can earn certification for skills they develop while getting on the job training and technical instruction. The Air Force technical training schools are the best in the world, and you receive a salary DURING training. Finally, many college level tests are administered to members, usually at no cost.
